AM Technical Solutions (AM) is driven by making a difference in the lives of kids across the country. Earlier this month, we were proud to sponsor the CAT 13 Volleyball Tournament, which supports cancer treatment and research, including pediatric research.
The 13th annual volleyball tournament was held on Wednesday, June 21, at the headquarters of NOVUS Clothing Company in Latham, New York. (NOVUS is our clothing partner that produces AM-branded merchandise throughout the year to raise funds for select charities.)
To help increase community participation in the tournament, NOVUS partnered with the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region in Albany, New York. The goal was to raise $25,000. We can proudly report that the tournament exceeded the goal by generating $27,664!
CAT 13 Volleyball Tournament: An Exciting Outcome to Support Cancer Research
The 16-team double elimination volleyball tournament carried the theme to “spike out cancer.” One of the key participants who helped support the cause was former NFL player Michael Oher, who gained notoriety for “The Blind Side” movie.
We were proud to sponsor such a great event that will positively impact the lives of children living with cancer in the Albany area, as the proceeds from the tournament will help children with cancer and their families.
In addition to raising funds for cancer research, the tournament helped create additional awareness for the “Reak Kids Wear Pink” campaign promoted by the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region.
The campaign is designed to engage youth in the Albany area to make a difference in their community by understanding how to organize their personal fundraising and philanthropy efforts to raise funds for cancer treatment.
“It’s always rewarding to see a community come together for such a worthy cause and exceed their fundraising goal,” says Tim Glasson, Chief Development Officer. “We cannot wait to hear stories about how children – and their families – are positively impacted by the funds raised through the CAT 13 volleyball tournament.”
