Throughout this year, we are highlighting ministries and organizations that AM Technical Solutions (AM) financially supports. You can view the entire list of organizations we support in our 2024 annual community calendar.
Today, we are spotlighting Hope Of The Poor, an international organization that cares for individuals who suffer from the greatest poverty of all – the feeling of being unloved.
The Impact of Hope Of The Poor
Hope Of The Poor works directly with underprivileged individuals in the U.S. and Mexico to shine a light in dark areas. Their team works with drug-addicted street kids, homeless families, and people who live at the city dump to provide them with hope, love, and resources.
Founded by Craig Johring and Danny Leger, the organization feeds the poor, rents homes to take families off the street, and works with employers to help create jobs for the individuals they minister to.
“We founded Hope Of The Poor in 2016, and since that time, we’ve seen God do amazing things, we’ve seen God grow this ministry, and I believe it’s going to continue,” says Craig. “We’re going to see more people impacted as people bring Christ to the poor, and the poor bring Christ to us.”
Craig’s work in Mexico City has been impactful in many ways. He moved to the city to work directly with people who needed someone to give them a sense of purpose. In his time on the ground, Craig has helped kids get off drugs, find jobs, and integrate into the culture.
Danny felt a similar calling to spend his time in Mexico City, providing hope in his own unique way. With a strong background in youth and music ministry, Danny was able to find his calling by reaching kids’ hearts through his many talents.
“Now, years into this partnership, we’ve seen God do amazing things through the ways we’ve grown,” says Danny. “Miracles happen every day on the streets and in the places where we share our songs and stories.”
Our Chief Operating Officer, Dan Codi, saw the ministry’s impact first-hand several years ago. Dan joined a group that traveled to Mexico City for a mission trip to serve residents who lived and worked in the city dump. The trip profoundly impacted the team, as they saw a group of individuals who had not lost their joy despite living in extreme poverty.
We encourage you to learn how to support the amazing work through Hope Of The Poor. There are many opportunities to shine light in dark places in Mexico City and throughout the U.S., where the poverty of being unloved can be addressed.
