Today, we are spotlighting Mercy Ministries, a service-oriented organization that has built a home, a school, and a church in Kenya for children and families who had nowhere else to turn. Learn more about the powerful work of this international outreach ministry.
How Mercy Ministries is Serving Kenya’s Most Vulnerable Families
Mercy Ministries-AFM Africa is a nonprofit organization founded in 2016 by missionaries Jeff and Stephanie Bys, operating in western Kenya with roots in Texas.
What started as a single home for orphaned children has grown into a full campus that helped start a church, a children’s home for at-risk and orphaned children, and a school (pre-K through 12th grade) for children in the village.
Today, that campus meets the needs of the whole person, not just one need at a time:
- A home where about 120 children are raised and cared for by a staff of 70+ teachers and caretakers
- Classrooms open to every child in the village, regardless of a family’s ability to pay tuition
- Food and material support for widows and needy families throughout the surrounding villages
- A church community that shares the love of Christ with everyone the ministry reaches
Mercy Ministries is committed to walking alongside children and families for the long term. By providing a safe place to live, access to education, and a caring faith community, the ministry is helping break cycles of poverty and create new opportunities for the next generation.
