(Austin, Texas) — While your average 16-year-old spends their day going to school, doing homework and hanging out with friends, life is different for AMTS sponsored NASCAR driver Austin Wayne Self. After two successful Late Model stock car racing seasons at a local track Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, Texas, Austin and his family decided he was ready to make the move to a more competitive set of tracks.
So the family got a new address in Charlotte, a new racing team – Sellers Racing – with a reputation for success on NASCAR short tracks, and an aggressive 27-race season schedule, Austin would have no time to do much else than race.
“Sometimes I think, man I would love to be hanging out with my friends back in Austin, playing video games, long boarding or swimming at the lake. But then I wouldn’t get to race cars at all of these legendary NASCAR tracks, and work on pursuing my dream,” says Self.
Austin, who has become NASCAR’s Most Popular Teenage Driver, is already experiencing a lot of success with very little time on each of these tracks, which include Southern National Motorsports Park, South Boston Speedway, Caraway Speedway, Motor Mile Speedway, Langley Speedway and Richmond International Raceway.
So far this season, the AMTS 07 Chevrolet has recorded 1 win, 13 Top 10’s and 10 top 5’s with fifteen races still on the 
schedule. One highlight of the season was the invite-only opportunity Austin got to race in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at Richmond International Raceway. In that race, Austin raced against the top names in NASCAR and Late Model racing including Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Burton and Joey Logano. Qualifying alone was a big deal, and the AMTS 07 Chevrolet managed to finish the race in 19th out of a highly competitive 36-car field.
“I know that I am extremely blessed, and I don’t take this for granted for one minute. As long as I have this opportunity, I will keep working hard and will always appreciate the support I get from AMTS, my fans, and my family and friends,” says Self.
