AM Cleanroom Build and Performance (AMCBP) is deeply committed to following the industry standards for cleanroom testing and certification projects.
In fact, our company helped develop and write many of the standard protocols and specifications used in the industry.
These standards are vital to ensure the integrity of each cleanroom project and prevent contaminants from interfering with the actions required in the cleanroom.
ISO 14644-1 Sets the Standard for Cleanroom Projects
The primary reference point for cleanroom classifications and standards is ISO 14644-1. This industry standard sets the guidelines for how many particles and what size are allowed at each classification.
The lower the classification, the fewer particles and the smaller the size allowed in the cleanroom. There are six allowable particles sizes in the cleanroom:
– ISO 3 (Class 1): 1,000 particles at 0.1 µm or smaller, 237 particles at 0.2 µm or smaller, 102 particles at 0.3 µm or smaller, and 35 particles at 0.5 µm or smaller. This is the most stringent classification.
– ISO 4 (Class 10): 10,000 particles at 0.1 µm or smaller, 2,370 particles at 0.2 µm or smaller, 1,020 particles at 0.3 µm or smaller, 352 particles at 0.5 µm or smaller, and 83 particles at 1.0 µm or smaller.
– ISO 5 (Class 100): 100,000 particles at 0.1 µm or smaller, 23,700 particles at 0.2 µm or smaller, 10,200 particles at 0.3 µm or smaller, 3,520 particles at 0.5 µm or smaller, and 832 particles at 1.0 µm or smaller.
– ISO 6 (Class 1,000): 1,000,000 particles at 0.1 µm or smaller, 237,000 particles at 0.2 µm or smaller, 102,000 particles at 0.3 µm or smaller, 35,200 particles at 0.5 µm or smaller, 8,320 particles at 1.0 µm or smaller, and 293 particles at 5.0 µm or smaller. This is the only classification that allows for all six sizes of particles.
– ISO 7 (Class 10,000): Because of the high concentration of particles, there are no particles at 0.1 µm, 0.2 µm, or 0.3 µm. 350,200 particles at 0.5 µm or smaller, 83,200 particles at 1.0 µm or smaller, and 2,930 particles at 5.0 µm or smaller.
– ISO 8 (Class 100,000): No particles at 0.1 µm, 0.2 µm, or 0.3 µm. 3,520,000 particles at 0.5 µm or smaller, 832,000 particles at 1.0 µm or smaller, and 29,300 particles at 5.0 µm or smaller.
AMCBP Experienced at Each Cleanroom Classification
AMCBP is an NEBB Certified company that has worked on more than 5,000 cleanroom projects. The AMCBP team is the most experienced in the industry to provide the highest quality and most professional work on cleanroom projects in the United States and internationally.
Our engineers and technicians have experience in the most sensitive environments and can complete projects from ISO 3-8 (Class 1-100,000).
We take the time to understand the nature of the project and apply the appropriate industry standard to the project. Then, our highly-trained team follows the requirements for the project to ensure that your cleanroom meets the standard.
