Charity Spotlight: Hope of the Poor Building Relationships That Change Lives

AM Technical Solutions (AM) believes in supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the communities where we live and work.

As part of our 2026 Community Impact Calendar , we’re highlighting Hope of the Poor , a nonprofit ministry that serves vulnerable individuals and families, primarily in Mexico City.

Through personal relationships and practical assistance, the organization helps people experiencing extreme poverty find hope, support, and opportunities to build a more stable future.

Helping Families Build a Path Forward

For families experiencing poverty, access to safe housing and steady employment can make a significant difference in their daily lives.

Hope of the Poor helps address these needs by providing food, renting homes for families experiencing homelessness, and connecting individuals with employers who can offer opportunities to work.

The organization also supports people working to overcome drug addiction and rebuild their lives.

Much of this work takes place in Mexico City, where founder Craig Johring lives and works alongside the communities the ministry serves.

Through ongoing outreach, Craig and his team build relationships with people facing difficult living conditions, including children living on the streets and families who live and work near the city dump.

These connections are central to Hope of the Poor’s Christian mission. By spending time with individuals and understanding their circumstances, the ministry provides personal encouragement alongside practical support.

For the people it serves, these relationships can become an important source of stability and belonging.

Creating Opportunities for Others to Serve

Hope of the Poor also invites people to become directly involved in its mission.

The organization welcomes volunteers from the United States to Mexico City, where they participate in mission trips focused on serving local communities and sharing their faith.

Its outreach also extends to Omaha, Nebraska, where co-founder Danny Leger works with people experiencing homelessness.

Through the Hope of the Poor Coffee Stand, Danny brings together youth groups and adults to serve the homeless community. The initiative encourages volunteers to connect with the people they meet and recognize their dignity and worth.

Craig and Danny also share their experiences through speaking engagements at churches and schools, encouraging others to become involved in serving people in need.

AM is grateful to support Hope of the Poor and the relationships it continues to build within these communities. We encourage you to learn more about the organization and the opportunities available to support its mission.
