Samaritan’s Purse Ready to Meet Needs – With Hope
When disasters strike – whether it’s a storm ripping through a U.S. town or a crisis unfolding in a hard-to-reach country – Samaritan’s Purse goes wherever the need is greatest. Rooted in the biblical story of the Good Samaritan and the call to “go and do likewise,” the organization provides immediate relief and long-term recovery to help individuals and communities rebuild.
But Samaritan’s Purse doesn’t just meet immediate needs; they also invest in long-term recovery. Their work includes:
- Rebuilding homes and schools
- Supporting local churches
- Providing vocational training
- Restoring livelihoods
The idea is to help communities emerge stronger and more resilient. This dual focus – urgent relief and lasting impact – means their presence continues long after headlines fade, turning crisis zones into stories of hope and renewal.
Amid their work, Samaritan’s Purse leads a signature annual event that brings joy to children worldwide: Operation Christmas Child. During National Collection Week, which runs November 17–24, 2025, volunteers and churchgoers across the U.S. fill shoeboxes with toys, supplies, and personal notes to remind each child they are loved and not forgotten.
For many children, this is the only gift they’ll receive all year – a tangible expression of God’s love delivered through the hands of a stranger. Since 1993, more than 232 million shoeboxes have been distributed in over 170 countries, each serving as a simple yet powerful tool to share hope and faith.
In a world marked by both sudden disasters and ongoing hardship, Samaritan’s Purse continues to bridge the gap between physical need and spiritual restoration. From rebuilding homes after a hurricane to placing a shoebox gift into a child’s hands, their mission remains the same – to go wherever people are hurting and bring the love of Christ in practical, meaningful ways.
This November, through Operation Christmas Child, individuals, families, and churches everywhere have the opportunity to join that mission and help deliver joy, hope, and the message of God’s love to children across the world.
