Semiconductor fabs often require changes due to technology transitions and associated capacity requirements. These require reconfiguration of the fab including removing previous manufacturing equipment and reconfiguring associated facility elements.. Wall openings, raised flooring, and utility penetrations all have to be carefully restored so the space can return to its required specification condition.
AM Technical Solutions (AM) was brought into a semiconductor manufacturing facility to provide cleanroom repair support across multiple tool removal locations.
Our scope included temporarily modifying cleanroom infrastructure to create access for equipment removal and restoring the affected walls and raised metal flooring once each tool was out. With extensive experience supporting high-tech manufacturing environments, our team helped ensure each area was repaired to match the existing cleanroom construction.
Our Project Support Providing Cleanroom Repair Services
The project required a team that could support equipment removal while also restoring the cleanroom surfaces affected by the work.
Our specific scope included:
- Removing a section of the cleanroom wall to provide access for tool removal.
- Repairing raised metal flooring where utilities previously penetrated the floor.
- Installing owner-provided floor tile, pedestals, and stringer materials to restore affected areas.
- Rebuilding wall sections from the raised floor to the cleanroom ceiling at each tool location.
- Matching new wall sections to the surrounding existing cleanroom construction.
- Restoring the original wall section once all scheduled tools had been removed.
The work was completed in phases across four tool locations, allowing the cleanroom repair scope to follow the equipment removal sequence. At each location, AM addressed the openings left behind by utility connections and restored the surrounding floor and wall systems before moving on to the next area.
This type of work required careful attention to the existing cleanroom environment. The goal was not simply to close an opening, but to restore the affected area so the new wall construction matched the surrounding section and the raised flooring was properly rebuilt using the existing system components.
By coordinating the repair work with the tool removal sequence, AM helped the project team move through each area methodically while maintaining a clear path toward restoring the cleanroom once the equipment was removed.
