Today, we are highlighting Double H Ranch, which provides specialized camp programs and year-round support for children – and their families – who are in the midst of life-threatening illnesses. Learn more about the amazing work of this organization.
How Double H Ranch is Caring for Kids and Their Families
The Double H Ranch is a non-profit organization that opened in 1993 and has served 80,000+ children facing extreme medical hardships from around the world.
The organization recognizes the challenges that families experience when one of their children is seriously ill. They aim to enrich their lives through memorable, physically safe, and medically sound camp experiences.
The best part is that all programs are free of charge for families. Thanks to the generous support of individuals and organizations, campers have the opportunity to experience the excitement of the Adirondacks mountains in New York.
Double H’s signature program, the Adaptive Winter Sports Program, offers children ages 6-16 dealing with chronic and serious illnesses the opportunity to participate in alpine skiing and snowboarding in the beautiful Adirondacks. The program is made possible with the support of 200+ volunteer instructors, ski patrollers, and equipment technicians.
When the temperatures rise, Double H offers a summer camp that includes ziplining, target practice, and a talent show. The staff and licensed medical professionals create a safe environment where each camper’s unique needs are joyfully met.
Family members are also welcome to participate throughout the year. Family Weekends bring together campers and caretakers for fun activities and talent shows. Families can choose to stay in private camper cabins with meals provided throughout the weekend.
Whether it’s winter, summer, or a family weekend, Double H delivers transformative experiences that enrich the lives of children in need of encouragement and support. Take a look at the impact on attendees:
