The AM Technical Solutions (AM) team is continuing to work on the convergent bioscience building project on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles.
The project calls for architectural design, engineering, and cleanroom build-out for the new Michelson Center for Convergent Biosciences. This building will create a new platform for biomedical professionals, faculty, researchers, and students to support advanced research programs.
Main Features of the New Michelson Center at USC
The new bioscience building includes over 190,000 square feet of cleanroom, laboratories, offices, and an imaging facility. The centerpiece aspects of the facility include a nanotechnology cleanroom laboratory and an electron microscopy imaging suite designed by our team.
Our team joined other architects and engineers commissioned to support this large scale university project. As the specialty design consultant for the cleanroom, imaging, and HPM rooms basebuild and tool hook-up design, we worked to create a world-class facility supporting nanoscale research and teaching environments for science and engineering.
Collaboration is Central to the Convergent Bioscience Facility
One of the main areas of emphasis for this project is creating a collaborative environment so that leading industry researchers can support projects and access state-of-the-art equipment.
The design of shared spaces for researchers and experts to come together in a common environment will improve collaboration of research through increased human interaction.
“We are proud of the completed work at the Michelson Center to support amazing new research opportunities in bioscience,” says Abbie Gregg, AM Chief Technology Officer. “We believe we put together the best plan and layout for the facility space to create a one-of-a-kind research facility that will attract leading researchers from around the globe.”
