Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS) are essential to improving efficiency, safety, and throughput in modern semiconductor facilities. By automating material movement among tools, bays, and storage, these systems help make fabs more efficient.
AM Technical Solutions (AM) brings deep experience in delivering complex semiconductor facility installations in high-technology environments. We are currently applying our expertise to support a U.S. semiconductor company with a facility installation project to support their production needs.
Learn how we plan to deliver this critical project with a “Right First Time” approach to meet our client’s project criteria, minimize unforeseen changes, and deliver on all three (cost, quality, and schedule).
Our Project Scope Installing Automated Material Handling Systems
The project scope centers on installing a complete AMHS solution – including OHT (Overhead Hoist Transport), OHB (Overhead Hoist Buffers), and Stocker systems – across multiple bays within the semiconductor facility:
- Install AMHS track (rails, including curves, branches, and straight pieces) and associated brackets, barcodes, magnets, and OHB storage locations across multiple bays.
- Install manual lifters and auto lifters to support the OHT and OHB systems.
- Receive, inventory, and install all tracks, lifters, and Stockers from client-supplied materials.
- Confirm client survey information prior to installation to ensure alignment with the fab layout and tool positions.
- Provide and operate scissor lifts, rolling scaffolds, and gantry lifts as necessary to reach installation heights and handle installation.
To safely and efficiently execute the project, we will assign experienced employees and subject matter experts (SMEs) to perform all installation work, maintaining strict control over quality, cleanliness, and coordination with other trades.

Stocker installation will be a key component of the overall AMHS solution. We will assign a dedicated team to install Stockers across multiple levels and bay configurations. Our team will work closely with the client and trades on the ground to confirm critical plans and details before installation, ensuring proper integration with the OHT system and fab layout.
This integrated approach to AMHS track, OHT/OHB, and Stocker installation will enable us to deliver a coordinated, certifiable solution to support the high-throughput needs of this semiconductor facility while meeting stringent cleanliness and performance criteria.
With internal design and engineering stamping capabilities, we ensure every AMHS installation is fully compliant with rigorous industry and facility standards. Our internal NEBB cleanroom certification capability further ensures that the design and construction will pass all required certification criteria and support reliable fab performance over the long term.
“This AMHS installation will play a critical role in helping our client meet their goals for advanced semiconductor production,” says Robert Logston, SVP, Construction. “We look forward to delivering a fully integrated solution that aligns with our ‘Right First Time’ approach, helping our client satisfy the project objectives without compromise.”
