AM Technical Solutions (AM) appreciates the opportunity to support the educational sector throughout North America. We believe there is tremendous value in providing high-tech construction services to support the advancement of research in various fields.
We were recently awarded a cleanroom consulting project in Western Canada to assist with the Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Certification of a cleanroom facility at a new innovation hub at a university campus.
The new hub will replace outdated infrastructure to help strengthen R&D efforts and allow for the use of advanced technology for new inventions. Learn how we are applying our cleanroom expertise to support the university’s vision of developing new solutions to modern challenges.
How We’re Using Our Cleanroom Expertise to Support Innovation
Our company will play a key role in bringing the project to completion by the scheduled completion date in 2026. We will be working closely with the construction manager and contractor of record to support the cleanroom facility design and construction across multiple phases.
The effort will need to be tightly coordinated to ensure the completion and verification of four ISO 5 cleanrooms, one ISO 6 cleanroom, gowning areas, vestibules, and extra space for service hallways for each cleanroom.
Our scope of work includes the following key aspects across each phase:
- Design and Planning: Create tailored cleanroom design plans, select appropriate materials and technology for optimal cleanliness, recommend layout and workflow improvements for efficiency and safety, review cleanroom mechanical systems and building operations, and advise on mechanical monitoring systems for compliance.
- Construction: Ensure adherence to design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, identify deviations from approved plans, and coordinate with contractors and suppliers for a smooth and timely process.
- Engineering Systems Commissioning: Consult with the engineering systems commissioning agent to confirm that the mechanical and electrical systems of the base building are installed and assessed, and ensure that the cleanrooms are completed and meet cleanliness standards before ISO certification testing.
- Testing and Certification: Conduct comprehensive performance testing and validation of the cleanroom facility to ensure compliance with ISO 5 & 6 requirements, coordinate with accredited testing labs for essential tests, facilitate the certification process, and assist in the documentation needed for regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
Our highly capable team will be on the ground in Canada working closely with the other construction teams and trades involved in the project. Our experience with these types of projects will help the operation run smoothly and efficiently, with minimal disruption to other areas of the campus that may be affected.
“We understand the value of this capital project for one of the leading universities in Canada,” says Terry Behrens, AM VP of Engineering. “Through our first-time-right approach, we will ensure the university’s innovation facility is equipped with the latest technology and equipment to support their cutting-edge research and innovation.”
