At AM Technical Solutions (AM), we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work – no matter where it takes us. This summer, we partnered with “Climb for a Cause,” an initiative supporting Young Life (YL) Fair Park, to help provide inner-city middle and high school students in Dallas with access to summer camps and year-round mentorship.
Led by Director Joe Anderson, YL Fair Park also organizes outdoor backpacking trips for students with disabilities and their peers, providing them with the opportunity to build relationships and experience nature together.
“Climb for a Cause” was a simple concept designed to help grow the ministry. They asked friends, family, and business partners to support a great challenge through donations and involvement. The event aimed to raise funds to help students grow in confidence, connect with mentors, and participate in opportunities they might not otherwise have access to.
Our company was proud to join YL Fair Park as a designated partner for the climb. Of the 12 hikers involved, two of our employees participated in the hike. Check out these breathtaking photos and learn more about the results of this amazing adventure.
Climb for a Cause: Making an Impact One Summit at a Time
The hike took place in the mountains of Colorado, bringing together tough-minded individuals committed to raising money and awareness for Young Life. Here’s what the team accomplished:
- $32,500 raised for Fair Park Young Life (amazing!)
- Almost 26 miles hiked over two days
- More than 18 hours of total hiking time
- Roughly 10,000 feet in elevation change
During the two-day trek, the group persevered to reach the summits of seven mountains – an achievement that reflects the dedication and effort behind the cause. The group conquered some of the toughest terrain in the Western United States:
- Mount Flora – 13,129 ft.
- Mount Eva – 13,131 ft.
- Mount Bancroft – 13,250 ft.
- Parry Peak – 13,367 ft.
- James Peak – 13,272 ft.
- Grays Peak – 14,275 ft.
- Torreys Peak – 14,272 ft.
We’re proud to have played a role in supporting the mission of YL Fair Park, helping students gain access to programs that will make a real difference in their lives.
The challenging hike served as a poignant reminder of the difficulties faced by many young people in the Fair Park community, and we were honored to have contributed to their future success.
