Applied Mechanical senior project manager, David O’Hanlon, was invited to attend a meeting with Brazil’s president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during the grand opening of Ceitec’s wafer fab in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Applied Mechanical continues to play a key role in helping the Brazilian government establish a semiconductor industry there.
President da Silva acknowledged this wafer fab to be an important effort to establish semiconductor manufacturing as a strategically important step to transition Brazil to a bigger industrial power, away from its reliance on the export of its rich supply of raw materials. Applied Mechanical’s field-experienced engineers, technicians, supervisors and project managers have been working on all phases of construction; from base-build through tool pre-qualification.
