After a three-month absence from racing competition, Austin Wayne Self and the AM Racing #22 Chevrolet returned to the race track on Tuesday night, May 26 in Charlotte.
The 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series was temporarily suspended in February due to the global pandemic. After a period of evaluation, race officials made the decision for live races to resume.
The first race back was the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Austin Wayne Self finished in the Top 20 as he looks to resume a successful 2020 racing campaign under the AM Racing banner.
AM Racing Ready to Resume Truck Series
After sports leagues were suspended across the country and across the world during the apex of the global pandemic, we appreciate that race officials carefully considered the best method to resume competition in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series.
Once the determination was made to gear up for live racing again, the AM Racing team provided amazing support preparing Austin Wayne Self to get back on the race track. It certainly helped to have a brand-new racing facility in Statesville, N.C. to ensure that Austin and his #22 truck were ready for competition.
Preparations were made while considering the health of everyone associated with the racing team. This included the introduction of AM Racing safety masks that Austin displayed at the facility and at the race track in the lead-up to the race in Charlotte.
Now that racing has resumed, Austin will look to build on last year’s successful racing season. As a proud sponsor of the AM Racing #22 truck, our company is looking forward to seeing how Austin fares the remainder of this season.
