AM Technical Solutions (AM) is strengthened by the contributions of young professionals who are leading the way in high-tech construction projects. One employee is Robin Newman, who joined our company in April 2023 and has positively impacted our Life Sciences division.
Robin serves as a Senior Process and Validation Engineer supporting advanced projects for our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. Robin’s work was recently recognized in the industry, as she was named a recipient of the 2023 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo Student/Recent Graduate Grant.
ISPE (The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) is a nonprofit association that supports the advancement of scientific, technical, and regulatory issues throughout the pharmaceutical lifecycle. The grant included an in-person, all-access pass to the 2023 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo in October 2023 in Las Vegas and a two-year membership with ISPE.
As a recent graduate stepping into the pharmaceutical field, Robin was granted a tremendous opportunity to grow her skills, learn from other professionals, and tap into a wealth of benefits to help shape her immediate and long-term career trajectory.
How the ISPE Conference Supported Robin Newman
This year’s ISPE conference covered key topics that are affecting current and future biotech projects. In the immediate term, the technical sessions presented an exciting prospect for Robin to hear about the latest developments in the industry.
“The knowledge and insights I gained from these sessions supplemented my academic learning, enabling me to stay relevant in this fast-paced industry,” says Robin. “This was an opportunity to translate theory into practice and to apply these cutting-edge insights in my role as a budding professional.”
Robin took advantage of networking opportunities to learn from other professionals spanning all levels of influence from across the globe. Engaging with industry peers, thought leaders, and regulatory agency representatives helped Robin broaden her professional network and learn from diverse perspectives and experiences. These interactions have the power to potentially lead to collaborative opportunities, paving the way for her growth in the industry.
Furthermore, the Partner Showcase at the conference introduced Robin to the latest
technologies and services in the pharmaceutical industry. As a recent graduate, this exposure was invaluable. It will help influence Robin’s practices and improve her efficiency, setting a solid foundation for her career.
The ISPE event also provided long-term benefits to shape her career outlook. For example, the case studies on integrating Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and digitalization in manufacturing proved to be particularly insightful in supporting her long-term strategic planning efforts, helping her stay ahead in the industry.
“The comprehensive understanding of various aspects of the pharmaceutical industry – from
facility design and construction to commissioning and qualification – will undoubtedly enhance
my professional competency,” says Robin. “Additionally, learning about the current state of the industry, including the adoption rate of Quality Risk Management (QRM) Based Integrated C&Q Planning, was particularly compelling for my role.”
“I would like to congratulate Robin on receiving the ISPE grant,” says Brian Williams, SVP, AM Life Sciences. “Young leaders are a powerful force in our company, and we know she is prepared to utilize this opportunity to grow professionally and help our company create value for our customers by lending her expertise to Life Sciences projects.”
