The role of an Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) has become increasingly valuable in high-technology industries. Companies across the globe are incorporating these systems into their facilities to increase efficiency, generate cost savings, and support safety.
AM Technical Solutions (AM) was recently commissioned by a leading U.S. semiconductor company to support a structural evaluation that will determine whether an AMHS can be installed in their existing cleanroom facility.
The primary focus of the project will be to provide constructability support to ensure that new AMHS technology can be safely installed and operated in the facility. Learn more about our high-tech construction services for this critical evaluation.
Project Support for the Installation of an Automated Material Handling System
Our team will collaborate with the architecture firm of record to provide construction means and methods that support the firm’s proposed design. The design is intended to increase the load capacity of the existing trusses above the cleanroom, which will allow for the installation of the new Automated Material Handling System.
The means and methods will consider that the existing cleanroom must remain in operation during the construction process to ensure continuous production. We are prepared to address this project constraint to satisfy our client’s specific project goals.
In addition to offering constructability support, we will provide a complete cost of work report for what will be required to complete the construction aspect. This evaluation will capture the cost of performing the required modifications to the existing truss structure upon completion of the design.
The cost of work proposal will also include any additional rod drops to the existing ceiling grid system, as well as provide for any additional struts that are identified during the design phase.
To ensure the successful completion of our project scope, we have assigned a lead construction manager and senior construction project manager to the project. We are confident that our team will provide exceptional leadership coordinating efforts with the architecture firm and our client to advance the project toward completion.
“The use of automated systems such as AMHS can pay tremendous benefits for semiconductor companies to improve production,” says Robert Logston, SVP Construction. “Our team understands the challenges associated with evaluating the viability of a system of this caliber in an existing cleanroom environment. We are prepared to provide our client with the appropriate recommendation that drives toward a successful installation.”
