When a Life Science company needs to retrofit a working lab with new equipment, the science happening around it can’t slow down to wait. Every day the fitout stays on schedule is a day closer to the space being back in service for the critical research it exists to support.
AM Technical Solutions (AM) was recently brought into a lab fitout project to provide critical Commissioning (Cx) services, supporting a general contractor’s team at a facility in the Midwest U.S.
With deep bench strength across architecture, quality, and cleanroom performance, we’re helping deliver this project on schedule and without compromise. Learn how our Early Quality Integration approach and self-performed technical capabilities will help keep the work moving without creating downtime at the facility.
Our Project Support Providing Commissioning Services
The general contractor leading the fitout needed a team that could build quality into the work from the start, not inspect for it after the fact. Our specific scope calls for:
- Retrofitting with new equipment and furniture to better suit the space.
- Supporting installation of new lab equipment, including biosafety cabinets, incubators, a water purification system, and supporting electrical and HVAC rework
- Attending weekly project coordination meetings to stay aligned with the owner’s team
- Following all site safety procedures and protocols throughout
To support this project, we drew from our deep bench of technical resources, including licensed architectural and design engineers, cleanroom construction specialists, QA/QC certified piping inspectors, and facility and process automation integrators.
Our self-performed capabilities will add further value, integrating seamlessly into the project’s qualification and validation program. This effort will include NEBB-certified cleanroom performance testing and the use of a software platform that allows teams to review turnover documentation in real time, which removes a common bottleneck in project execution.
That same discipline extends to how we will safely execute the work. We maintain Platinum safety status, with a five-year average OSHA Incident Rate more than 10 times better than the current industry average.
On a complex fitout project, where precision in every process directly supports the research the space will enable, our commitment to safety leadership and ability to coordinate work with the trades is critical for ensuring safe completion.
“Every piece of equipment we help bring online moves this lab closer to reaching its full potential for life-saving research,” says Brian Williams, SVP, AM Life Science. “For this lab fitout, every system has to integrate cleanly, and every document has to hold up to scrutiny. That’s the standard our team will strive for to ensure the facility delivers on its updated mission.”
