Several Top 5s, some unfortunate circumstances, a cut tire in the closing laps, and tight races that he’s battled down to the finish. AMTS Sponsored driver Austin Wayne Self has many times come close to a win in his short ARCA career.
Self and the team scored a different ending last weekend when they earned the first ARCA win at the legendary Winchester Speedway in front of many friends and family.
“It felt so great to get the No. 98 back into victory lane. We finished second to Frank Kimmel here in 2013, and this was always the place that I really wanted to win. I had a lot of family and friends here. I love this place a lot. The racing is always fun. To be able to come home with a win is really big for me,” says Austin Self.
“I definitely have to thank my entire team at Mason Mitchell Motorsports for giving me a great car and keeping me focused. And I also have to thank AM Technical Solutions for their sponsorship and support,” finishes Self.
“We are very proud of Austin and his entire team. He has battled so hard through adversity on the track, and continued to stay very patient and focused with his racing,” says Kelly McAndrew, CEO of AM Technical Solutions.
“We know that this is just the first of many more wins to come for Austin and the team!” finishes McAndrew.
Next up for the ARCA Racing Series is the Iowa ARCA 150 at the Iowa Speedway Saturday, July 17th. The race will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 8:00 p.m. CDT. Arcaracing.com will also have live timing and scoring for all on-track activity.
