High-Tech Cleanrooms are critically important and remodels need to be conducted with high quality, proper documentation, maintain planned schedules and deliver on budget.. Design questions, field conditions, submittals, and RFIs need timely review to ensure successful execution.
AM Technical Solutions (AM) recently completed construction administration support for a high-tech cleanroom remodel and tool installation project in Maryland. The work included modifications to an existing cleanroom, installation of new manufacturing equipment and ancillary support systems, and construction changes needed to create a move-in and move-out path for large equipment.
AM stayed involved through the construction phase to help keep field execution aligned with the architectural and design documents prepared for the project.
Construction Administration Support During the Remodel
AM reviewed contractor submittals for compliance with the design requirements, including shop drawings, material samples, and product data. The scope covered cleanroom-related components and systems such as wall and ceiling finishes, doors and hardware, electrical infrastructure, HVAC, and process piping.
The team also reviewed RFIs related to conflicts, ambiguities, and missing information in the construction documents. A typical five-business-day response window was established, with higher-priority questions handled as quickly as possible to support the construction schedule.
That process gave the contractor and project team a clear path for resolving design questions as work progressed.
Keeping Design and Construction Aligned
AM participated in weekly Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings throughout construction and worked within the contractor’s established RFI and submittal workflow. That gave the team a consistent process for reviewing documents, responding to questions, and addressing design clarifications during the remodel.
The project also required coordination around cleanroom enablement and equipment installation. AM’s construction administration role supported those activities while keeping the work tied back to the systems, finishes, and requirements established in the design documents.
At project closeout, AM completed a final site walk and punch-list review. The team also reviewed as-built information and supported the Certificate of Substantial Completion process.
Supporting the Project Through Closeout
The construction period ran from December 2025 through March 2026.
During that time, AM’s construction administration support helped maintain continuity between design and field execution. Submittal reviews and RFI coordination kept information moving, while meeting participation and closeout support carried that involvement through the end of construction.
For a high-tech cleanroom remodel, that continuity helps keep equipment installation and facility modifications connected to the original design requirements from construction through closeout.
