AM Life Science, a division of AM Technical Solutions (AM), was recently asked to provide support for a client’s groundbreaking cell therapy research.
The client is focusing on using stem cell-derived human islets as a possible cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D). We were asked to provide the client with a qualified engineer to support the validation of equipment and processes used to produce medical devices intended to encapsulate a novel cell therapy for the treatment of T1D.
We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to support the client with this research because there is currently no cure for T1D. The autoimmune disease affects millions of children and adults every year in the U.S., and we would like to do our part contributing to research.
Supporting the Validation of Equipment and Processes
We have a deep bench of certified professionals to provide expert support for each of our clients. For this project, the engineer will primarily be responsible for validating existing manufacturing equipment and processes as the client prepares to begin clinical development.
The engineer will join with the client executing the following elements of the project:
- Plan and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure design for manufacturability.
- Introduce and validate next-generation manufacturing operations.
We also expect that the engineer will provide engineering support to other groups, including R&D and manufacturing. This captures our company’s commitment to teamwork and communication to support each critical area of research projects.
“This is an exciting opportunity to be part of innovative research that could positively impact millions of individuals and families not only across the U.S., but across the globe,” says Kelly McAndrew, CEO. “Over the past 25+ years, we have worked hard to build a roster of experts in their field. The payoff is extremely rewarding when we can support our client’s clinical research pursuing a cure for T1D.”
