One of the most rewarding moments for our company in 2019 was to see the new UConn Innovation Partnership Building (IPB) acknowledged for its innovative design.
Specifically, the AIA Connecticut Design Awards recognized the superior design work with an Excellence Award in the category of Commercial, Institutional, Educational, or Multi-family projects.
Our project work included speciality lab designs for the Advanced Characterization Lab (ACL) and the Additive Manufacturing Labs (AMIC). We also provided basebuild design through tool installation, core and shell building design support, and programming for Phase 1 of the building.
We are already seeing how the building is being used to support innovative research projects at the UConn Tech Park through a collaboration between UConn students, faculty, researchers, and business partners.
New Video Shows the UConn IPB Facility in Action
The UConn Tech Park recently released a two-minute video highlighting the research projects taking place inside this high-tech, state-of-the-art applied research facility.
The video includes tremendous footage of the tools that our team designed and installed in the IPB facility. We are proud to see the tools in action after delivering a custom solution to support the specific project needs of biomedicine, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and other industries.
“Here, cutting-edge equipment comes together with innovative minds to find next-generation solutions for a better future. No other place treats research like we do,” the UConn Tech Park team declared in the video.
The video captures one specific tool in action, the Gleeble 3500, which is a thermal-mechanical testing machine used to support critical research and analyze data collected during the research.
Innovation is Flourishing at the UConn Tech Park
We are already seeing how the IPB facility is using equipment, tools, ground-breaking technology, and education to craft smart solutions for today’s modern challenges.
As a company committed to innovation, we are excited to see how cutting-edge research at the IPB facility is utilized by partner companies and businesses to support medicine, cybersecurity, and other industries that need solutions to help people and communities.
